What is a museum?
According to the RAE, a museum is a place to store collections of art objects, scientific or the other type, and in general with cultural value. The objects are conveniently placed to be considered. It is an institution, non-profit, open to the public, whose purpose is the acquisition, conservation, study and exhibition of objects that best illustrate the man activities, or culturally important to the development of human knowledge.
In Salamanca there are numerous museums that by their tradition and importance must be seen:
MIGUEL DE UNAMUNO MUSEUM
Miguel de Unamuno was elected Rector of the University of Salamanca in 1900, the city where he had lived since 1891. He was an important thinker and a known writer not only in Salamanca but also in Spain.
After the death of the thinker, the University of Salamanca, turned his house into a museum where it is exposed, furniture and many personal memories of Don Miguel and his sons. Shortly before his death, Unamuno donated his books to the University. They are, in total, about 6000 volumes, kept in his personal library.

MUSEUM OF AUTOMOTIVE HISTORY
The Museum of Automotive History Salamanca opened its doors on October 1of 2002, as an exhibition, research and documentation center.It was the first automobile museum built in Spain with public access. In it you can see pieces of Planché Gomez Collection, consisting of more than one hundred vehicles.
But this museum also organized outdoor activities and outdoor exhibitions.
