What is a museum?

According to the RAE, a museum is a place to store collections of art objects, scientific or the other type, and in general with cultural value. The objects are conveniently placed to be considered. It is an institution, non-profit, open to the public, whose purpose is the acquisition, conservation, study and exhibition of objects that best illustrate the man activities, or culturally important to the development of human knowledge.

In Cáceres there are numerous museums that by their tradition and importance must be seen:

CO-CATHEDRAL MUSEUM

In a large room of the Cathedral of "Santa Maria" of Cáceres, in the historic heart of the city, we provide an excellent and valuable collection of sacred vessels, images and other sacred objects of worship and some of them of great historical and artistic interest, either outlined and lighting wise.

This cathedral museum shows the audience a good number of well-preserved paintings and some religious and sacred vestments. Stresses in the center of the room a magnificent processional monstrance.
